　　In the past a few decades, many countries have experienced the rapid progress of urbanization. Though the expansion of cities bring many benefits to people, we cannot overlook the accompanying problems, especially those confronting youngsters.

　　To begin with, the flooding of a growing number of young people makes cities increasingly crowded and stressful. It is a pity that when the development of infrastructure fails to satisfy the needs of growing population, here comes the fierce competition of resources, including houses, hospitals and schools. Undoubtedly, the recent arrivals, namely youngsters, who are at the early stage of career building or job hunting, will be under mounting pressure. For some, it is even unaffordable to catch cold and stay at home for a couple of days, due to the expensive fees of seeing a doctor and the cut of bonus by the company.

　　Secondly, the large population also means the ferocious competition in job market. Undoubtedly, there are more job opportunities in cities, the location of various companies of different industries and scales. However, except for the lucky period of fast economic development, the supply of positions usually cannot meet the swift growing demands. Consequently, numerous youngsters driven by ambition and desire for a higher living standards will be disappointed. They have to either choose a less satisfying offer or endure the pressure of being jobless. The competition continues after one is successfully recruited. Surrounded by outstanding colleagues, young people need to strive for excellence in case that they have no chance of promotion or even be marginalized and then replaced soon.

　　To cope with problems mentioned above, young people have two solutions: departure or self improvement. The one with stronger background and better experience stands more chances to achieve success in career and hence has more incomes. From the perspective of governments, measures can be taken to develop cities of small or medium size, so as to retain youngsters with job opportunities in their hometown and alleviate the pressure of big cities. In a word, governments need to address the fundamental cause of problem: population explosion.
